Homeowners Across America Are Installing Green House Lights To Support Veterans

Ever since 9/11, America has been all over the world. This does not mean that every single American has gone to fight in the war, but everyone waits for those heroic and brave man and women who have gone to war. But sadly, when these troops return from war as veterans, they are not at all the same, having faced the tremendous horrors of war. We know this, thanks to Clint Eastwood’s moving movie American Sniper which gave us an insight into the life of a war veteran. There are distinctive differences in their attitude and personality. So to support these veterans who have completely transformed post war, Americans are installing green lights in their houses.

1. Rendezvous with a hero

This is Lourdes Gonzalez, an army veteran who fought in the Iraq war, displaying a great amount of courage. We hear the stats and number of soldiers dead every day in the news. Media has been trying to count bombings and fatalities of the war from past fifteen years, and it’s somewhat clinical. Here is a real soldier, who fought in the war, ready to share her traumatic story which is very hard for her. Like many veterans returning home after serving a traumatic duty in the war, Lourdes was suffering from post -traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

2. Green lights come on one after the other

According to the findings of United States Census Bureau, 19.3 million war veterans resided in the U.S. in 2014. Many of these veterans are suffering silently, struggling with homelessness and addiction and isolation. PTSD is a clinical condition from which people who had experienced or seen traumatic event or scenes tend to suffer. These scenes keep on replaying in their minds, causing stress and sorrow. These can also cause violence when the person experiences a flashback. Green lights can help them feel that they are not alone.

3. The only thing you need is a light bulb

Like these people who are supporting the veterans by installing green lights, you too can support them. All you need to do is install a green light inside your apartment or outside your home to show your support. You should be a part of this wonderful movement to comfort the courageous men and women who risk their lives to protect our country. The sacrifice they made for us cannot be paid back. It is so huge. But still, we can do a little thing to make them feel special and appreciated, and this is one way of doing that.

4. So show your support today by installing a green light in your house. Also motivate others to do so.

5. In this moving video, Lourdes narrates her own story. This courageous woman gives you one more reason to support the veterans.
